Summer Saturday in Camden

The weather here in Maine has been absolutely glorious this past week. It made for a delightfully perfect weekend to take a drive to the coastal town of Camden for a date with Paul! After chores were completed, we jumped into the car and made our way north.

Our first stop was hiking  one of the hikes on my summer hiking bucket list-Maiden’s Cliff. This hike is an easy hike, but I’m not in the best shape yet so it was  mildly challenging. My saint of a husband was very patient with my multiple water breaks along the way. Did I mention how perfect it was to hike? The weather was in the low 80’s with a little breeze, and we were protected from the sun by the tree-top leaf canopy. To sum it up, it was a little glimpse of heaven out in those woods as we made our way up to the overlook.

After hiking we made our way into the town of Camden for lunch. Naturally we sought out seafood, and ended up at a nice restaurant called The Water Front. Even though the town was busy with seasonal and tourists, we were seated outside without any waiting. Our table was next to the water, so we watched boats coming and going while waiting for the food. I’m on a mission to find the best lobster roll in Maine, so I ordered a lobster roll and Paul decided on huge, fried sea scallops.

It was serendipitous that we walked past Uncle Willy’s Candy Shoppe and soon enough we found ourselves inside my 6-year-old-self’s candy dreams. They stock every candy imaginable, 2-levels worth! We walked out with creamy peanut butter fudge. If you are ever in Camden, make sure to buy some fudge from Willy-it’s quite possibly the best fudge I’ve had in my life!
